Custom art tells a story. Each piece I have done for my clients has conveyed an emotion, an experience…a journey even. Being given the opportunity to create art that captures these such things is a joy and privilege. The experience ranges from an immersed partnership in the creative process with my client to the extreme opposite of being given complete artistic control. All levels of client involvement are wonderful and bring about something significant and moving for their home. Please feel free to read below some of the stories that have come with custom art I’ve done.
This piece is an abstract interpretation of a beautiful pictures snapped by my client while on vacation in Napa Valley. The vines in the vineyards were just changing colours. This was a special vacationing spot and my client wanted to capture its beauty in a grand way, to hang in their home, reminding them of special memories made.
A special mother received this piece, commissioned by her daughter, with the intention of creating something cheerful and joyous for her. The colour palette and the idea of an abstract floral was chosen by the daughter. From there the artistic control was given to me and the results were a success all around.
A young man started a collection of cultural masks from around the world. As a complement to his favourite mask, brought back from Africa, my client asked for a painting of an African sunset. The sycamore tree silhouette was the final piece added for the perfect finish.
A farewell present with a touch of special memories thrown in is how this painting came about. A group of friends were saying goodbye to a couple moving away. They requested I paint an abstract garden scene as a reminder of the couple’s beautiful gardens in the yard they were leaving behind. A sweet way to commemorate great friendship and fresh starts.
